With the further expansion of the electric vehicle market and the continuous improvement of the requirements for the cruising range, vehicle companies have put forward higher requirements for power batteries in terms of energy density, manufacturing costs, cycle life, and product additional attributes. Under the premise that no major breakthrough has been made in the field of raw materials, appropriately increasing the volume of the cylindrical battery to obtain more battery capacity has become an exploreable direction. At present, Tesla has started the large-scale production of 21700 batteries and plans to use them on Tesla Model 3. Cylindrical lithium battery type classification
1. Cylindrical primary batteries, mainly No. 5 and No. 7 batteries, other models are not introduced one by one, please consult the manufacturer for details;
AA battery, the general size is: diameter 14mm, height 49mm;
AAA battery, the general size is: diameter 11mm, height 44mm.
2. Cylindrical lithium batteries, the main models are 18650, 16650, 14500, etc.
18650 means 18 mm in diameter and 65 mm in length. The AA battery model is 14500, 14 mm in diameter and 50 mm in length. Generally, 18650 batteries are used more in industry and few in civilian use. The common ones are also used in notebook batteries and high-end flashlights.
18650 is only the size of the battery. According to the battery type, it can be divided into 18650 for lithium ion, 18650 for lithium iron phosphate, 18650 for nickel metal hydride (rarely), and the common 18650 is for lithium ion.
